Traditional Folk Music from Wales is included as an option as part of the WJEC GCSE Music, we have adapted our successful GCSE Music Live: TGAU Cerdd Byw training resource. This one-day course will help you to:

  • Learn about these traditions and how to compare them with Western Classical and contemporary music genres
  • Work with your students in composition, ensemble work, film and performance
  • Explore wider issues of identity and diversity within the new curriculum.

As an academic resource, the traditional music of Wales is a perfect springboard to explore the Welsh curriculum, the Welsh Baccalaureate and the GCSE syllabus in general. In a wider context this music is a perfect starting point to explore the culture, language and history of Wales and our place within an increasingly diverse world.
