WANTED: Working with Technology in Creative Ways

Lead Creative Schools: Call For Creative Practitioner(s)

Abermule Community Primary School, Abermule, Powys, SY15 6ND

We are seeking one or more experienced Creative Practitioners, with excellent collaborative skills and experience of working with children to work with staff and pupils at Abermule Primary School. We are looking for practitioners who work creatively with a Digital/STEM media (Computers, Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) such as coding/programming, creating robots, games design, problem-solving (engineering) and others – surprise us! We have a group of very enthusiastic learners in Years 3-6 who will be involved in the project.

At this stage we are very open minded about what the outcome(s) of the project might be, as we would like the project idea to be developed collaboratively between the creative practitioner(s), the pupils and the teachers. Our aspiration is that it will be an inspiring and exciting collaborative experience that will boost the pupils’ confidence, whilst develop their knowledge and skills. During the delivery of the project the creative practitioners and teachers will work closely, for example to include numeracy tasks within activities to improve maths skills.

The project will need to take place over 10 weeks between 6th November and the end of March 2018. The dates of sessions will be arranged with the successful candidate(s).

The daily fee for creative practitioners working on the project is £250. There will be a materials budget and we will be allowing for some travel expenses/overnight stays as we anticipate that practitioners will need to travel some distance to get to Abermule.
The final budget for the project will be agreed once the creative practitioner(s) has/have been appointed, depending on the number of practitioners, travel costs and materials requirements.
The overall budget for the project is in the region of £5,000.

Unless they have already received ACW CP training, the successful Creative Practitioner(s) must be able to attend a two day training session. Training can be attended on 12th & 13th October at Newtown (otherwise it will be at Llandrindod Wells or Swansea in November).

Abermule Primary School is a village school with around 80 pupils. Abermule is some 5 miles from Newtown, Powys.
English is the main language at the school.

Interviews will be held by arrangement at Abermule Primary School during the week commencing Monday 11th September.
