The film Macbeth by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru

Ym mis Chwefror 2017, perfformiwyd addasiad Cymraeg Gwyn Thomas o Macbeth gan Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru yng Nghastell Caerffili. Roedd y cast yn cynnwys Richard Lynch (Macbeth),  Ffion Dafis (yr Arglwyddes Macbeth), Gareth John Bale, Siôn Eifion, Owain Gwynn, Phylip Harries, Gwenllian Higginson, Aled Pugh, Martin Thomas, Llion Williams a Tomos Wyn.

“Perthynai statws i bob rhan o’r cynhyrchiad hwn, sy’n wirioneddol werth ei weld.”

(Lowri Cooke yn adolygu Macbeth.)

Fel rhan o Theatr Gen Byw – ein menter beilot newydd, gyffrous – darlledwyd perfformiad 14 Chwefror 2017 o Macbeth yn fyw i ganolfannau ar draws Cymru, yn cynnwys Chapter (Caerdydd), Pontio (Bangor), Galeri Caernarfon, Theatr Colwyn, Theatr y Torch (Aberdaugleddau), Glan yr Afon (Casnewydd), Canolfan y Celfyddydau Aberystwyth, Neuadd Les Ystradgynlais, Neuadd Dwyfor (Pwllheli), Canolfan Celfyddydau Taliesin (Abertawe) a Theatr Clwyd (Yr Wyddgrug). Cafwyd ail-ddangosiad hefyd mewn nifer o’r canolfannau, yn ogystal ag mewn ambell ganolfan ychwanegol, drwy gydol misoedd Mawrth ac Ebrill.

Yn sgil y fenter hon, mae cyfle pellach yn awr i sefydliadau addysg – yn benodol ysgolion uwchradd, colegau addysg bellach a sefydliadau addysg uwch – wylio a defnyddio’r ffilm Macbeth at ddibenion addysgol hyd ddiwedd 2017. Mae dau fersiwn o’r ffilm ar gael, sef fersiwn Cymraeg a fersiwn Cymraeg wedi’i isdeitlo.

Mae Pecyn Addysg, sy’n cyd-fynd â’r ffilm, ar gael yma.

Meddai Rhian A. Davies, Cynhyrchydd Gweithredol Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru:

Mae’r ffilm Macbeth gan Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru o’r safon uchaf ac yn sicr yn werth ei gweld. Rydym wrth ein bodd ein bod yn medru ei rhannu gyda’r sector addysg. Mae hyn yn rhan o’n strategaeth gyfranogi ehanagch i greu gwaddol digidol i gyd-fynd â chynyrchiadau at ddefnydd addysgol. Mae hefyd yn rhoi cyfle i ddisgyblion neu fyfyrwyr na lwyddodd i weld y cynhyrchiad yng Nghaerffili, neu mewn darllediad byw neu ail-ddangosiad, i fwynhau’r ffilm wych hon.”

Er mwyn cael gwylio’r ffilm bydd angen i’r sefydliad sy’n ei dangos arwyddo a dychwelyd ffurflen ganiatâd i ddatgan eu bod yn cydymffurfio â’r amodau. Yna, byddant yn derbyn cyfrinair mewngofnodi i gael mynediad at y ffilm. Bydd disgwyl i bawb sy’n defnyddio’r ffilm at bwrpas addysgol adrodd ar hynny i Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.

In February 2017, Gwyn Thomas’s Welsh adaptation of Macbeth was performed by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru at Caerphilly Castle. The cast included Richard Lynch (Macbeth), Ffion Dafis (Lady Macbeth), Gareth John Bale, Siôn Eifion, Owain Gwynn, Phylip Harries, Gwenllian Higginson, Aled Pugh, Martin Thomas, Llion Williams and Tomos Wyn.

“Every part of this production was of the highest standard – it is truly worth seeing.” (Lowri Cooke in her review of Macbeth.)

As a part of Theatr Gen Byw – our new, exciting enterprise – the performance of Macbeth on 14 February 2017 was broadcast live to centres throughout Wales, including Chapter (Cardiff), Pontio (Bangor), Galeri (Caernarfon), Theatr Colwyn (Colwyn Bay), Torch Theatre (Milford Haven), Riverside (Newport), Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Ystradgynlais Welfare Hall, Neuadd Dwyfor (Pwllheli), Taliesin Arts Centre (Swansea) and Theatr Clwyd (Mold). Repeat screenings were also held at several centres, as well as in some additional venues, throughout the months of March and April.

As a result of this enterprise, there is now an opportunity for education establishments – in particular secondary schools, further education colleges and higher education establishments – to watch and use the film of Macbeth for educational purposes until the end of 2017. Two versions are available – a Welsh-language version and a subtitled Welsh-language version.

An Education Pack, to accompany the film, is available here.

Rhian A. Davies, Executive Producer of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru said:

The film Macbeth by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru is of the highest standard and certainly worth seeing. We are delighted to be able to share it with the education sector. This is part of our wider participation strategy to create a digital legacy to accompany our productions for educational use. It also enables those pupils or students who were unable to see the production at Caerphilly, or in a live broadcast or repeat showing, to enjoy this excellent film.”

In order to watch the film, the establishment showing it will be required to sign and return a consent form to declare that they are willing to comply with the conditions noted. They will then receive a login password to gain access to the film. Anyone using the film for educational purposes will be required to submit a viewing report to Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.
