Creativity, Culture and Education: Unlocking the creativity of children and young people

Creativity, Culture and Education (CCE) is an international foundation dedicated to unlocking the creativity of children and young people in and out of formal education. “We believe that the best education has creativity at its heart” We believe that the highest quality engagement with children and young people should include:

  • Recognising Creative Skills and Behaviours – the ‘habits of mind’ which characterise the creative learner and creative teacher. These behaviours should be referenced in the planning and development of any activities aimed at unlocking the creativity of children and young people.
  • Partnership Working – the importance of co-planning, dialogue, a shared purpose and clarity of outcomes to successful projects.
  • Evidence and Evaluation – whatever creative learning activity is undertaken it is important to be clear about what success would look like and what evidence might be used to help reference that success. Evidence shouldn’t necessarily be expected to speak for itself – it needs to be analysed, thought through, made sense of, and then reflected back.

The case studies that follow give an insight into how Creative Partnerships has had a lasting effect within schools. Each narrative offers an honest reflection of where schools are now that the programme and the levels of financial support it once offered are no longer available. They are stories of adaptation and assimilation and are testimony to the vision and commitment of education professionals who are driven to help individual learners fulfil their creative potential.

Case Study 2006 – 2011 includes the following schools:
The Arnold Centre, Nursary and Primary School, Rotherham
Lancasterian Special School, West Didsbury
