Statement

My 20 years career as an Art & Design teacher to 11-18 year olds, GCSE and A level has equipped me with a broad range of skills and a solid understanding of the curriculum. I now work as an artist making hand formed porcelain jewellery, informed by shape, light and colour and reflection, developing new techniques and processes within my own work. I introduced ceramics to the art department at Brynteg, implementing projects into the scheme of work and training my colleagues in the skills they needed. Ceramics is now a big part of the art department there. Recent work with children has involved working with a group of year 6 pupils to enter a ceramic sculpture in the Urdd Eisteddfod art competition, they won the gold medal! I just love helping children and adults unleash their creative ideas, building confidence, developing skills and making something they are proud of. From tiny shapes to make jewellery with to pinch pots, sgraffito tiles, slab built vessels, to specifically designed ceramic sculptures based on a theme, I can work with clay in a variety of ways. I can also offer a firing service from my studio if needed.
