Mission Statement

The National Library of Wales is developing a brand new project to establish a National Broadcast Archive.

It is an ambitious project, funded by the HLF, and we are working closely with BBC Cymru/Wales.  We will be receiving all of BBC Cymru/Wales recordings, together with a digital copy and the ITV Wales collection is already housed at the Library - together the two will be the foundation of the National Broadcast Archive.

A new viewing centre will be developed in the Library so as to give full access to the Archive and we are also aiming to providing access to the collection in 3 other locations across Wales - in Wrexham, Carmarthen and Cardiff. We will also be providing access to 1000 clips online.

This is an invaluable research resources but there are also opportunities to make use of the collection for creative activities.
