Statement

I am an educational practitioner who draws on drama-based techniques to help students work imaginatively, find empowerment through their ideas and new ways to express themselves, to work effectively with others in what is a deeply social art form.

Drama provides alternative techniques for all kinds of learners. Through drama you can work physically, non-verbally and instinctively. You can work vocally, through sounds and words. You can work in an abstract way, or a more literal and realistic way. It is particularly effective for students who sit on the margins of mainstream education and find it hard to express themselves and their inner world through 'normal' learning methods.

I have worked as a professional theatre director and producer in London, specialising in new writing, devised theatre, puppetry, scripted theatre, interactive and immersive theatre, site-specific theatre. I have worked as a youth theatre director and educational practitioner for 8 years.

My artistic and educational work is driven by a passion for culture and community, nurturing and empowering others to find their creative voice and realise their full potential.
