Arts Champion's Statement
As an artist and teacher I am interested in the process of creativity. Currently Head of Art at Gwernyfed High School, I try to encourage experimentation across multi-disciplinary areas within art and design.
From performance to painting, the possibilities are endless to express your individuality. As an art teacher, I have the absolute pleasure of guiding students to find their own visual journeys.
In education, my aim is to promote creative teaching and learning across different subject areas and help to embed creative thinking within the curriculum.
I am passionate about educational visits whether locally, nationally or internationally. Often taking students to experience art and different cultures to places such as Finland, Germany, France and Spain.
Visual Arts within the community is something which is very important to my school life and often work with our local charitable arts organisation Glasbury Arts, where I am a trustee.
As an artist, I seem create work based on past and present experiences through medias such as painting, installation and performance. These experiences can be emotive situations or places from memory.
Kayleigh studied a Fine Art degree at (UWIC) Cardiff School of Art and Design, achieving a first class honours in 2011.
